Climaboard Vs UFH (Under-Floor Heating)
You have made the first step and decided to remove the radiators from your house and now you have the question - "Why don't i go for Under-Floor Heating?"
All we need to do is ask the question - "What happens if you have a leak in your UFH?" ... that should be enough to put you off!
If not, then read on... Climaboard offers all the benefits of UFH systems but at lower cost. Both provide heat from the lowest point, are energy efficient and offer the beneficial effects of radiant heat.
However, Climaboard is much quicker to respond to changes in required room temperature and offers far less variation in temperature from floor to ceiling. It is quick and clean to install compared to “wet” screeded UFH systems and is easy to access for repair should that ever be necessary. It is ideally suited to retrofit situations where UFH systems are just not practical.
Climaboard® also uses much less water than underfloor systems. Where underfloor heating needs hundreds of litres of water to run - on a typical 4 bedroom house Climaboard uses less than 15 litres!
Climaboard takes advantage of one of the laws of physics known as the ‘Coanda Effect’ in which the tendency of moving fluid is to follow a nearby surface – in this case the wall. By warming the inside of exterior walls, Climaboard provides an insulating layer of warm air that prevents cold air radiating into the room. Comfort is felt even at relatively low air temperature, making the system very cost-effective.
With its system of twin 15mm copper pipes connected to aluminium fins by means of close-fitting flanged joints, Climaboard delivers heat energy in an extremely efficient manner. Easy to install and measuring just 140 mm high by 30 mm wide, it attaches to walls in place of ordinary skirting, neatly hiding its elements behind the front panel.
So, with less water and no mass of floor to heat, the desired temperature is reached much sooner, thus using less energy, hence less cost.
